Isn’t that it? the constant comparison that has the power to keep me unhappy when someone else gets to dictate how good or bad i may feel if i reach or don’t reach a particular goal? i hold actual resentments against people when i feel i am missing the mark because anger is a safer place to sit that with the feelings that are underneath it -fear, sadness, shame. Those are the things i need to address with myself and are my responsibility; to manage my own emotions. thanks for sharing this; its always a great reminder.

It’s amazing how long we can live in a life that isn’t fully ours. At 53, I feel like the real me for the first time in a very long time 😊

Yes exactly. It’s become cliche but it’s so true that comparison is the thief of joy.
